In this guide, we answer the question how many beers in a keg. As there are so many different sizes of kegs out there, this will vary from keg to keg. It also depends how much liquid is in the keg, but we will go on the assumption they are as full as they can get.

To best show, you how many beers in a keg I have drawn up a table of how much each keg hold therefore how many beers you will find in each of keg.

I have also done the conversion for between metric and imperial scales.

Keg Size 12 Oz (350 ml)16 Oz (480ml) 32 Oz (950 ml)
Cornelius Keg
(5 gallons/18.9Litres)
534020
Sixth Barrel
(5.16 Gallons/19.5 Litres)
554120
Pony Keg
(7.75 Gallons/ 29.3 Litres)
826230
¼ Barrel
(7.75 Gallons/29.3 Litres)
826230
½ Barrel
(15.5 Gallons/58 Litres)
16512462

As you can see, all the kegs hold a very decent amount of beer in them, and even the Cornelius keg holds 53 – 12 oz. beers. Something like the Cornelius keg is perfect where you are after a variety of beer rather than just a quantity of one. The half barrel will be perfect where you just need a ton of the same beer (Sporting events would often use this sort of keg).

Hopefully, this has answered the question of many beers in a keg, and if you’re wondering about cases, you can find that information right below.

How Many Beers in a keg

How many cases of beer are in a keg

Another common question that is asked is how many cases of beer are in a keg. Since we have our results from the above table, it is straightforward to work out. Going on the assumption that there are 24 beers in a case and they’re of the 12 Oz size.

Keg SizeCases
Cornelius Keg
(5 gallons/18.9Litres)
2.2
Sixth Barrel
(5.16 Gallons/19.5 Litres)
2.3
Pony Keg
(7.75 Gallons/ 29.3 Litres)
3 ½
¼ Barrel
(7.75 Gallons/29.3 Litres)
3 ½
½ Barrel
(15.5 Gallons/58 Litres)
6.8

As you can see, the smallest keg on our table holds at least 2 cases per keg. This sizing goes right up till over 6 cases of beer in the one keg. When you think of how much room a case takes up you can see why kegs are still the preferred method of storing and transporting kegs.

If you’re looking at investing in a keg for homebrewing or for other reason you can find a good variety of kegs for sale through the website I have linked below.
